Charles Prescott

Columbia, South Carolina ยท Toronto, Ontario

I began working in tax in 2007 as a VITA site manager. I later practiced as an attorney for ten years. That time allowed me to work on deals with multinational companies and with small shops just getting started. I am grateful for the clients who became friends, and I will always value those relationships. Those relationships allowed me to make introductions that became multimillion-dollar businesses.

I have carried the duty to protect both the innocent and the guilty. I have planned for futures, both for the living and the dead; for lives in being and for lives yet to be born. I have worked on matters that will outlive me and my children. I would hope that my contribution has been worthy of its gifts.

A New Direction

I have closed my South Carolina legal practice and no longer maintain licensure. I keep a small advisory practice while pursuing academic interests at the University of Toronto. My work now moves in a different direction, and taxation is simply one of the tools I carry with me.

This is a realignment of interest, not a farewell. The law remains a subject of study, but my attention is elsewhere. If you need to reach me, you may, but understand that my time is committed, and my availability is limited.

Notice to Former Clients: Clients whose relationship with the firm is ending receive a closing letter and a copy of their file. They have been aware of this transition.
